The Assignment
When Baroosh, the upmarket chain of high-street bars, wanted to build on its coffee offer and attract more customers by providing a consistently good coffee every time, it approached United Coffee for help.
The approach
“At Baroosh, we are about making every visit an occasion,” says Virge Balthazard Area Manager at McMullen & Sons Limited, owners of the Baroosh chain. “We do things differently from most bars on the high street, and our customers visit us throughout the day to enjoy everything from a morning coffee, or a girls lunch, to food and drinks on a big night out.
“United Coffee has helped us create a coffee offering that fits in with our passion for uncompromised service, style and standards. The team worked closely with our staff in an initial tasting session where we learned all about the different coffees and machines on offer and developed a solution to best fit with our business.”
Three Baroosh bars now operate traditional Adonis espresso machines which use a unique brewing technology to provide an easy-to-use system that ensures a quality, consistent coffee every time.
Virge explains: “The machines not only look good, but generate consistent crèma and a great cup of coffee every time. We’ve opted to use United Coffee’s award-winning Grand Café Triple Certified Coffee, a premium coffee sourced from some of the world’s finest coffee plantations. Feedback from both staff and customers has been really positive.”
The Results
“The greatest advantage of the new coffee machines and beans has been the benefit to our customer - they now receive a consistent cup of coffee every time,” says Paul Robbins, Food Development Manager at McMullen & Sons Limited.
“Our staff received professional barista training from United Coffee which has not only educated the team in the art of coffee making, but has instilled a similar passion for coffee that many of them previously had for cocktails and wine.
“We now have a strong coffee offer in our bars that creates a whole new part to the business day through a solid morning and afternoon trade – something that we would have previously lost to local cafés and coffee shops. With a breakfast menu and afternoon tea offer, coffee sales have become a vital part of our business. Coffee has a huge profit potential, and the new machines, coffee and training give us the competitive edge.”
The Adonis
Hand-crafted from scratch-proof chrome, the Adonis offers all the beauty of traditional equipment but has the ease of operation of a modern automatic machine, thanks to its unique brewing technology. Its High Extraction Efficiency system produces quality espresso shots at the touch of a button. The Adonis is a real show-stopper, ideal for adding front-of-house wow factor.
