Oakmann Inns and Restaurants has been working with United Coffee to build a coffee offer that rivals the high-street across its estate of modern public houses.
Amy Kilpin, marketing executive at Oakmann Inns and Restaurants explains: “Coffee is a prevalent market and as we get a lot of trade in our pubs from social groups and local companies, it made sense to develop our offer. We looked to United Coffee, a credible coffee partner, to help us create our own unique coffee concept which we launched recently in one of our pubs, The Kings Arms.”
“We were keen to provide existing and new customers with up to date coffee trends as well as a relaxed and casual coffee experience. The atmosphere in our pub offers customers something different to the noisy, crowded high-street chains and complements our traditional pub menu and service. We have comfortable furnishings and provide a nice environment in which to enjoy a relaxing hot drink and a something to eat.”
“United Coffee developed a concept that works for our pubs and has helped us launch it successfully. As well as using United Coffee's beans and machines, we serve flat whites, iced lattes and iced teas – which we didn't previously offer – from our dedicated 'coffee only' end of the bar. United Coffee created fantastic colourful visuals and branding for our menus, table talkers and even provided framed pictures for the wall. This shows off the great products that we have and adds to the personality and professionalism of the offer.”
“All of our staff were trained by United Coffee's specialist team to develop their barista skills. United Coffee baristas, Lynsey Harley and Gwilym Davies, worked closely with the team to ensure that the machines are used properly and that the different coffee techniques are fully understood. As a result, all of our staff are capable of serving speciality coffees to a high standard.
“Though it's only been in place for a short time, our café culture is developing. We've attracted lots of new customers through the doors and people are seeing us as somewhere they can get a great coffee. It's a real attribute to our business and we're ready to roll out everything that United Coffee has implemented to the other outlets in our group.”
Simon Remmer, Key Account Manager at United Coffee adds: “We've worked alongside Oakmann Inns to develop a concept that fits with the latest coffee trends as well as the feel of the company. Together we've come up with a premium offering, that competes with any other coffee outlets in the local area. The end result is a vibrant café retreat within a modern and popular pub group that is accessible to all.”
